Changsha Museum

Changsha Museum has an exhibition area of 9,000 square meters. Its collection includes more than 50,000 pieces (sets) of cultural relics, covering all kinds of objects from the Paleolithic Age to the modern times and showcasing the historical and cultural development of Changsha, such as bronze wares in Shang and Zhou dynasties, Chu-Han cultural relics, porcelain from Changsha kilns in Tang Dynasty, and modern cultural relics.
There are two permanent exhibitions which present ancient and modern Changsha city, special exhibitions regularly updated and exchange exhibitions.
Permanent exhibitions:
Glorious History and Culture along Xiangjiang River-Ancient Changsha City

Changsha History and Culture Exhibition systematically displays the history and culture of Changsha area for the first time, where over 1,250 pieces (sets) of cultural relics and about 2,400 pictures are on display in four exhibition halls.
Its first chapter, Glorious History and Culture along Xiangjiang River-Ancient Changsha City, features human activities in Changsha area dating back 200 thousand years ago and the development history of Changsha.
Luminaries, Revolutions and Rising-Modern Changsha City

The second chapter, Luminaries, Revolutions and Rising-Modern Changsha City, includes seven parts: Emancipating the Mind, Seeking Truth from the Facts, Political and Economic Reform, Prompt Response to the Revolution of 1911, Pioneering Communists in Changsha, Autumn Harvest Uprising, Mass Patriotic Participation in Anti-Japanese War, and Peaceful Liberation.
The exhibition shows remarkable contributions of Changsha people who shouldered the responsibility and strived hard to turn the tide during the national independence and people's liberation.
