Yuezhou Kiln Site Museum reopens
2023-07-07

Yuezhou Kiln was first fired in the Eastern Han Dynasty, with a history of nearly 2,000 years. It is one of the six famous kilns of the Tang Dynasty and is noted for celadon.
In 1997, archaeologists discovered a well-preserved dragon kiln of the Sui Dynasty and a dragon kiln of the Southern Dynasty at the Mawangkan site in Xiangyin County. In 2003, Xiangyin County built the Yuezhou Kiln Site Museum at the site. In 2019, the Yuezhou Kiln site was listed among the eighth batch of key cultural relic units under national-level protection by the State Council. In 2020, Xiangyin temporarily closed the Yuezhou Kiln Site Museum for quality improvement.
Li Zhenjiang, secretary of the Xiangyin County Party Committee, introduces that the county regards the cultural revival of Yuezhou Kiln as the top priority, and does a good job in the protection and development of a series of cultural relics such as Sanfeng Kiln, Qingzhusi Kiln, and Baimei Kiln, focusing on restoring the historical status of Yuezhou Kiln and regaining its earlier glory.
With the help of professional colleges, craft masters and folk artists, we will attract reserve talents, strengthen exchanges with Tongguan Town, Liling City, Jingdezhen City and other places, explore the firing techniques of kilns, study the artistic innovation of traditional utensils, and promote the inheritance of traditional culture from generation to generation.
On the opening day, Xiangyin County announced that students across the country can visit eight major cultural scenic spots for free during the summer vacation, including Xiangyin Confucian Temple, Yuezhou Kiln Site Museum, Memorial Temple of Zuo Zongtang, Willow Manor Scenic Area, and Yuanpu Guifan Scenic Area.
