2023-12-04

Shanxi Province, abbreviated as “Jin”, has abundant cultural relics both above and underground, and enjoys an important position in the history of Chinese archaeology.
This exhibition centrally displays cultural objects unearthed in multiple major archaeological discoveries in the Shanxi area. It is one of the series of special exhibitions of Chinese civilization in the Changsha Museum, and showcases the historical process of Jin State from enfeoffment, expansion, prosperity to decline.
At the exhibition site, the adorable Pig-shaped Zun (wine vessel) attracted many people, with a sturdy body, buck teeth, a tureen on its back, and a hollow belly.

According to Cui Yuezhong, a research librarian of Shanxi Museum, there are many bird-shaped bronze artifacts, but those shaped like pigs are very rare. Pig-shaped Zun, with rich imagination and creativity, reflects the development level of bronze manufacturing in the Jin State during the Western and Eastern Zhou dynasties.
In addition, to meet the needs of visitors of different ages, several scenes are created in the Changsha Museum, like art installations, digital multimedia displays, interactive exhibition walls of idiom stories. Meanwhile, various activities are also held to enhance the experience of visitors, especially young visitors, such as expert lectures, interactive touch of bronze objects, and reading corners.

This exhibition will be open for free until March 17, 2024. It is recommended that citizens make an online appointment in advance to enter the museum.
