4th “Soy Sauce Festival” held in Xiangtan

The activity aims to actively respond to the call of the government of Hunan Province to strengthen cultural tourism and promote consumption, further enhance the fame of Xiangtan as the “Hometown of Soy Sauce in China”, and make the “Soy Sauce Festival” an important urban festival activity in Xiangtan.
On the same day, 68 Xiangtan’s signature dishes, such as Majiahe Mutton, Xiangxiang Jiaotang Chicken, Mushrooms Fried with Chinese Cabbage, and Soy Sauce Fried Rice, were prepared with soy sauce, showing the unique flavor of different foods cooked with soy sauce to citizens and tourists.
Several well-known chefs of Hunan cuisine cooked and served “Mao’s Braised Pork”, “Steamed Fish Head with Chopped Pepper” and “Sugar Candy Lotus”.
Not only that, 14 well-known local catering enterprises, such as Huadu International Hotel, Chuanjialao, Zhangshuwan Native Cuisine and Xiangtan Old Restaurant, also provided Xiangtan’s specialty food during the three-day event, inviting visitors to taste free of charge.
There was a large sauce jar on the scene to remind people of childhood memory of buying soy sauce. In the central area of the garden, a wishing jar was placed, and visitors could participate in making the creative paper airplanes to make wishes.
This “Soy Sauce Festival” lasted for three days. The event enriches citizens’ leisure and entertainment life, creates a new urban image of Xiangtan with food, publicizes Xiangtan’s food culture and stimulates the vitality of Xiangtan’s consumer market.
