140 chefs compete for ‘Chef King’

140 young chefs from all over the country competed for the “Chef King” of Hunan cuisine in terms of food material selection, cutting techniques, and cooking skills.
As the competition began, the chefs were busy steaming, stir frying, and stewing the ingredients.
The ingredients were well matched and processed in the pot and transformed into delicacies with a perfect combination of color, aroma and taste. A variety of enticing and fragrant dishes were cooked, making people’s mouths watering.
Each dish showcased the exquisite cutting skills, spicy taste, and diverse cooking techniques of Hunan cuisine. The contestants were required to create an innovative Hunan dish and a regular dish within 90 minutes in this competition. And the first, second and third places were selected based on professional cooking skills, taste, texture, and presentation of food.
In the end, Qing Pengcheng from Longhui County of Shaoyang City won the title of “Chef King”.
Hunan cuisine is a cultural symbol of Hunan people, and Changsha County is also one of the birthplaces of Hunan cuisine. Its superior location, transportation, and modern industrial system provide fertile soil for the development of unique Hunan cuisine. There are more than 12,000 registered catering enterprises in the county. Changsha County has been included in the first batch of national leading counties for county-level commerce development.
The competition is a good chance for young chefs to learn from masters of Hunan cuisine, and an industry event for enterprises and associations to exchange ideas. A large number of outstanding young chefs and a series of innovative Hunan cuisine have emerged, providing a broad stage for promoting regional landmark cuisine and opening up a vast world for skilled chefs to play their roles.
