The Changning Woodblock Painting school was founded by the famous woodblock painter Wu Guowei in the late 1970s with Changning Cultural Museum as its birthplace, and has a history of more than 50 years of development.
With more than 3,000 woodblock painters, over 5,000 works have been created, which have a wide impact.
Changning City was awarded the title of “the Hometown of Chinese Folk Culture and Art (woodblock painting)” by the Ministry of Culture from 2008 to 2018.
A large number of works have been exhibited, awarded, published, and collected. 30 works have been selected for various national art exhibitions, and more than 200 works for art exhibitions and woodblock painting exhibitions in Hunan. Besides, many works have been recommended for exhibition, sales, and auction at home and abroad.
Changning Woodblock Painting has been exhibited three times in special exhibitions of Shanxi. In 2010, the Changning Boutique Woodblock Painting Exhibition was held at Guanlan Art Museum in Shenzhen. It has participated in several original woodblock painting trade fairs at Guanlan. Since then, Changning Woodblock Painting has begun to enter the domestic and foreign woodblock painting cultural industry market.
In recent years, Changning City has made every effort to promote the development of Changning Woodblock Painting. Nowadays, Changning Woodblock Painting is blossoming in radiant splendor in the world.
