In April 1918, Mao Zedong, Cai Hesen and some other patriots established the society here. The former site was destroyed during the Anti-Japanese War and rebuilt in 1987.

The former site sits in the west toward the east, consisting of a main room, chamber rooms, a kitchen, and a warehouse. Covering an area of about 175 square meters, the bamboo-wood house has a courtyard and is surrounded by a bamboo hedge.

Xinmin Society was an important revolutionary society during the May 4th Movement. As the early organization of the Communist Party of China, it is of great significance in the history of modern Chinese revolution.
