Dong people celebrate "Rock Rice Festival"

On August 23, villagers played lusheng (a reed-pipe wind instrument) and the Chinese lute to celebrate the traditional “Rock Rice Festival” of the Dong people in Shuita Village, Boyang Town, Tongdao Dong Autonomous County. After entering the autumn harvest season, the Dong villages in the county hold activities to celebrate the “Rock Rice Festival” in succession. Villagers usually carry the food like steamed glutinous rice, preserved fish and meat as well as fried chicken and duck meat to the streams or rice fields for sacrificial activities. They eat the food on the “Rock Rice Festival” together to pray for health and celebrate the harvest.
