2023 Hunan 'Liuyueliu' Folk Song Festival kicks off

Millions of viewers across the country and the Miao ethnic people celebrated the national festival and shared the cultural feast through TV, webcast and live viewing.
Chengbu Miao Autonomous County was awarded the title of "National Demonstration County of Ethnic Unity and Progress" at the opening ceremony of Hunan (Chengbu) Gaoshan Agriculture Expo. Five activities will be carried out during the event: Gaoshan Food Music Festival, Hunan (Chengbu) Gaoshan Agricultural Development Seminar and Gaoshan Agricultural Products Exhibition, Hunan-Guangxi High-quality Tourism Promotion Conference, and the first Nanshan Star Camping.
Among them, Gaoshan Agricultural Products Exhibition will be held in the track-and-field ground on the north side of Chengbu National Culture and Sports Center from July 23 to 25.
245 enterprises actively participated in the exhibition. Among them, there were 46 international enterprises from ASEAN countries, 73 enterprises from other provinces, 40 enterprises from other cities in the province, and 86 enterprises from Shaoyang City.
The exhibition covers a total area of 20,000 square meters, including 10,000 square meters of exhibition area, 31 special booths and 140 standard booths. There are various kinds of products on display, such as Nanshan organic milk, hundred flowers honey, osmanthus willow tea and other special agricultural products, "Shaoyang Red" brand products, high-quality Gaoshan agricultural products inside and outside the province, as well as African aloe skin care products, South African red wine, Ethiopia coffee, Equator selenium rich black tea, purple tea, nuts and others.
The exhibition attracted 380 large buyers including Starbucks, Jingdong, Danone China, Hema Fresh, Youa and Hubei Baishazhou market, and many professional visitors. It is expected that more than 30 projects will be signed, and the contract amount will exceed 100 million yuan.
Hunan (Nanshan) "Liuyueliu" Folk Song Festival originates in Changan Ying Town of Chengbu Miao Autonomous County. The ancestors of Miao and Dong ethnic groups sang folk songs when laboring in the fields, to praise life and gather strength. Through singing folk songs, young men and women expressed their love, and the masses reflected public opinion and promoted progress.
On the sixth day of the sixth lunar month, the villages of Chengbu Miao Autonomous County became a sea of songs and a world of dance. Therefore, the "Liuyueliu" Folk Song Festival" gradually evolved into local festival activities, which has been passed down to the present.
The "liuyueliu" folk song festival has been successfully held for 24 times in Chengbu Miao Autonomous County, becoming one of the four major folk festival brands in Hunan Province. It was included in the fourth batch of national public cultural service system demonstration projects.
