‘Liuyueliu Qiaping’ou’ cultural festival kicks off

College students from Yatunbao Town and Boyang Town and participating in summer vacation experimental activities gathered here, presenting wonderful performances including Dong opera, and songs and dances. Moreover, the toasting at the Dong ethnic banquet constantly pushed the whole activity to a climax.
“Qiaping’ou” is a cultural activity to commemorate the 700-year history of their ancestors moving from Nanjing to Yatunbao Town of Tongdao Dong Autonomous County. “Ping’ou” means the lawn. According to legend, on the sixth day of the sixth lunar month every year in the early Yuan Dynasty, the local villagers held this activity to commemorate the day when their ancestors settled here. Since then, it has become the most solemn commemoration day of the Dong villagers.
