13th Southern Hunan Yao Township ‘Panwang Festival’ kicks off

The “Pangwang Festival” in Yao Township of Southern Hunan is an important activity to inherit Chinese Yao culture and rituals, a platform to showcase ethnic unity and progress, and a grand gathering for Yao and Han peoples to gather strength. It has developed into a grand traditional festival and unique cultural activity in Southern Hunan.
The event attracted more than 3,000 Yao people and tourists from surrounding areas through activities such as sacrifice to King Pan and bonfire parties. It showcases a new image of the development of Yao Township in the new era, enhances the friendship among Yao people on the border of Southern Hunan, promotes ethnic unity and harmonious development, and helps the revitalization of rural areas and the healthy development of social and cultural undertakings in Yao Township.
In the Mengjiang River National Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Shaibeitan Yao Township, tourists can see deer running, birds chirping, fishermen singing amid green mountains and clear waters.
In Shaibeitan Yao Township, tourists can experience the wonders of the nature, enjoy the long-table banquet and bonfire dance, and appreciate the charming Taxus chinensis.

Shaibeitan Yao Township is the only Yao Township in Jindong Management District. Due to the increasing investment in infrastructure, livelihood projects, and talent introduction in Yao Township by Jindong in recent years, Shaibeitan Yao Township has improved the infrastructure, level of civilization, and well-being of people, and boosted the comprehensive strength, and promoted rural revitalization.
In 2022, it was included in the second batch of provincial-level pilot units for ethnic rural revitalization in Hunan Province.
Jindong Management District, located in the northeast of Yongzhou City and at the junction of seven counties (county-level cities and districts) in the three cities of Hunan Province (Yongzhou, Hengyang, and Chenzhou), was originally the largest state-owned forest farm in Hunan Province founded in 1954.
Jindong covers an area of 635 square kilometers, with a forest coverage rate of 87.77% and a forest volume of 4 million cubic meters. The negative oxygen ion content in the air is more than 20,000 per cubic centimeter, and the good air quality rate is 100%. The surface water always maintains the first-class water quality.
It has won dozens of national honors, including a National Model Base for Forest Management and a Forest Wellness Demonstration Forest Farm in China.
