Cili ‘Erduanwu’ dragon boat race kicks off
2024-06-20

The dragon boat race has been held in Yanbodu Town for 130 years to commemorate the patriotic poet Qu Yuan and also the patriotic general Sun Kaihua born in Cili. This competition was a folk event organized by the masses initially, and has been included in the sixth batch of provincial-level representative intangible cultural heritage projects.

In recent years, Cili County has made efforts to develop the “Erduanwu” dragon boat race into a well-known large-scale cultural and tourism brand event. This not only inherits national culture and promotes patriotic spirit, but also greatly enhances the senses of collective honor and belonging. It has also become an important carrier for promoting the local cultural and tourism development.
