Zhangjiajie Huangshizhai High-altitude Slackline Competition to kick off
2024-08-16

All athletes must complete challenges on a slackline 120 meters long, 2.5 centimeters wide, and 2 millimeters thick between the Liuqi Pavilion at the mountaintop and the Shenlai Peak of Huangshizhai, which is the largest aerial observation platform in the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. The final results will be determined according to the walking distance, speed, and the number of mistakes.
Slackline, known as the “ballet on the rope”, is an emerging sports competition derived from rock climbing. Integrating various fashionable sports elements, it’s highly entertaining and challenging for young people. The slackline performance was staged at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Since 2018, the Huangshizhai High-altitude Slackline Competition has attracted numerous slackline enthusiasts at home and abroad, showcasing picturesque Zhangjiajie to the world through this extreme sport.
As one of the first national sports tourism demonstration bases, the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park launched the International Cycling Extreme Downhill Race in Huangshizhai in 2014 and 2015, and created the world’s first extreme downhill track among peak forests. Afterwards, a series of sports competitions such as the Huangshizhai High-altitude Slackline Race, BMX, and Peak Forest Bicycle Challenge have successively been held in the park, promoting the integrated development of sports and tourism.
