The site park, with a history of over 6,000 years, is known as the birthplace of rice in the world.
The interview team felt the profound Chinese civilization, and the persistence and strong cohesion of Chinese agricultural culture.
The most eye-catching are various straw artworks which are divided into six main themes, namely agricultural culture, sunny youth, a fantasy forest, an underwater world, a love story, and a rice art park, with an exhibition area of over 30,000 square meters.
“The 2024 China (Chengtoushan) International Straw Art Festival kicked off on November 16 and will last until December 20,” said Feng Chuanli, chairman of Hunan Chengtoushan Construction and Development Company. The activity has received a good response, and over 30,000 tourists have come to play in the past few days.
During the event, there will also be performances of national intangible cultural heritage projects such as Lishui boatmen’s chants and Jinghe opera, as well as characteristic activities like grass dragon dance, fabric tie dyeing and grass shoes making.

The agricultural cultural experience area features traditional farming tools display, agricultural knowledge explanation and parent-child interactive experience, allowing visitors to experience the joy of farming, and understand agricultural culture.
The straw theme photography competition encourages tourists and professional photographers to capture wonderful moments of the straw art festival and unique rural scenery.
“In 2022, Hunan Province aimed to create five business cards including the agricultural culture business card represented by the ancient cultural site of Chengtoushan. Since its opening, it has been approved as a national 4A tourist attraction and a ‘Five Good Park’ for the protection and utilization of cultural heritage in Hunan Province. It has received over 3 million tourists and 50,000 students for study tours,” said Feng Chuanli. Next, the site park will strive to be a national 5A scenic area.
