Mangshan National Forest Park

The Mangshan Mountain has a complicated geological condition with its jagged tops as well as wrinkled and coulee-slashed hills. Among more than 150 peaks over 1,000 meters, the highest Mengkengshi reaches an altitude of 1,902 meters, from which the Changle River flows out into the Pearl River.

Nested in primeval forests, Monkey King Stockaded Village sees cliffs, deep valleys, ancient trees, trails with curves, streams and waterfalls. The negative oxygen ion concentration here amounts to 100,300 ions/cm3. Monkeys scavenge and splash around here from time to time. It’s a good place for tourists to commune with nature.
Origin Drifting
Located in the park, the drifting spot is the origin of the North River, a branch of the Pearl River. With the gate of the park as the destination, the drifting begins from five kilometers away along the scenic road from the gate.
Stretching five kilometers, the drifting takes about two hours. Along the way tourists can enjoy primeval forests and fresh air, for the negative oxygen ion concentration here reaches 100,690 ions/cm3. The river is crystal clear and in good condition.
Mount Mang Natural Museum
The museum is divided into two parts. One is for the introduction to Trimeresurus mucrosquamatus, or Protobothrops mucrosquamatus exclusively because this endangered snake is unique to the Mangshan Mountain. The other is for the exhibition of specimens of other animals native to the mountain.
Human Landscape
Yao ethnic town is near Mangshan National Forest Park. Local dwellings are characterized by exquisite eaves columns, wooden windows, and quaint painting plaques on the front door. Handmade local clothes are austere but beautiful. Panwang Festival has been created for the memorial of the ancestors, when local people would hold various activities like offering sacrifices to Panwang and singing competition.
