With a hilly karst landform, the Meijiang River Scenic Area enjoys spectacular scenery, concentrated and various scenic spots. It is also known for the natural wonders, precipitous cliffs and amazing experience.

Avalokitesvara Precipice

This semicircular precipice stands at an altitude of 499.8 meters with a relative height difference of 300 meters. The Avalokitesvara Precipice was a cave originally which then collapsed and became a precipice due to the rise of the earth’s crust. There are still five caves on the bluff. During the rainy season, water cascades down the cliffs, forming a magnificent waterfall as high as hundreds of meters.
Immortal’s Residence

This large natural bridge is gradually formed as the groundwater dissolves vertical crevices under gravity. It is a geological relic landscape complex composed of cliffs, natural bridges, karst caves, canyons, waterfalls and streams.

The Immortal Cave is 280m long, 30m wide and 60m high. There are two natural stone arch bridges rare in the world with a height of 50m and a span of 30m.
Shili Cliff

Shili Cliff, also known as Huangluowan Cliffs, is located in the Huangluowan Scenic Resort. As a great marvel of Hunan Province, this lofty and magnificent cliff extends from north to south along the west bank of the Meijiang River with a length of 3,500 meters and a relative height difference of 360 meters.
The cliff is almost erect, like a huge wall barrier, on which fantastic images of brilliant colors form due to the weathering and vary with seasons and light changes throughout the day. What a colorful Ten-mile gallery! According to what the karst geologists have proved, it is so rare to have cliffs of such a scale in karst landform that it has been listed as a national geological relic.

Saihai Lake
The Saihai Lake, or the Meitang Lake, is a natural karst lake with a water area of 0.25 square kilometers, a water storage capacity of 8 million cubic meters and a lake level of 329.7 meters. The lake was a underground river in the underground cave formed by dissolution at first. Later, it was uplifted to the surface by the crustal movement. The cave roof collapsed after weathering, denudation, erosion and dissolution and then we see the Saihai Lake today.

The water of the lake is clear all year round. The towering peaks by the shore are mirrored on the still surface which will be sometimes disturbed by some ripples as the boats pass through. Moreover, not only verdant trees and bright flowers but also pleasant bird songs can be enjoyed in the mountain. All of these remind tourists of the wonderland in a fairy tale.
