Jinggang Town

Jinggang Town is located on the west bank of the lower reaches of the Xiangjiang River in Changsha City, Hunan Province, which is about 30 kilometers away from Changsha City. It is under the jurisdiction of Wangcheng District. From the late years of the Qing Dynasty to the beginning of the 20st century, there had been more than 20 grain shops and a number of industrial and commercial workshops in Jinggang. Merchants gathered from far and near, and their business was thriving.

Jinggang was also an important military place in ancient times. In 1854, Shi Zhenxiang, a general of the Taiping Army, defeated the army led by Zeng Guofan in Jinggang.

Jinggang is a natural harbor with smooth waterways and endless sails. If you go upstream, you can reach Yueyang City and enter the Yangtze River. If you go downstream, you can arrive in Guangxi Province. Because of the developed water transportation, Jinggang once became the second largest business center in Hunan. Jinggang boasts many buildings dating back to the Qing Dynasty, such as the ancient post stations, ancient streets and ancient workshops.
