Mao’s braised pork in brown sauce

This dish was named after Chairman Mao Zedong who was enrolled at Hunan Normal University in 1914. Every Saturday, Mao and his schoolmates would treat themselves with pork belly braised with rock candy, star-anise, cinnamon and laurus no bilis. Mao developed quite an affection for it. In order to pay tribute to Chairman Mao Zedong, people named this dish after him.
