Fragrant sesame cake is a well-known tourist commodity in Yuanjiang, Yiyang City, Hunan Province. Yuanjiang fragrant sesame cake ranks first among the “four famous cakes” in Hunan (the other three include wick cake in Xiangtan, baked cake in Xiangxiang and polished long-grained nonglutinous rice cake in Ningxiang), which has special meaning to the local people.

 

According to historical records, fragrant sesame cake was produced in 1821 created by people in Yuanjiang with a history of nearly 200 years. It is mainly made of black glutinous rice, sesame and sucrose in the Dongting Lake area through more than ten processes. The product tastes crisp as well as sweet, and will melt once it falls into your mouth.
