Zhang Guying Village boasts the best-preserved ancient building complex in China, which is also known as “the First Village under the Sky” and “Folk Imperial Palace”.

With an area of 51,000 square meters, the complex has 1,732 houses connecting with each other under the same roof, and 206 patios used for ventilation and firefighting. Deep in the mountains of Zhang Guying Village, the complex is decorated splendidly and is a representative residential complex of Hunan built during Ming and Qing Dynasties.

The complex is now still home to more than 600 households with over 2,600 people, all of whom are the descendants of Zhang Guying. It has also attracted numerous filmmakers and tourists.
