Qianyang Ancient Town

As one of the best-preserved ancient towns built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Qianyang Ancient Town is located in Hongjiang City, Huaihua City, Hunan Province. Surrounded by water on three sides, the town is a key border town of West Hunan. It is known as “the Gateway of Yunnan and Guizhou” and “the first ancient town of West Hunan”.




Furong Tower


Furong Tower is said to be where Wang Changling, a famous poet in the Tang Dynasty, held banquets for his guests and farewell parties for his friends. During the Qing Dynasty, the tower was the ideal setting for scholars to compose poems and artists to create masterpieces. Constructed by the river, the tower boasts splendid villas and solemn inscriptions.


 Ancient alleys in the town


There are many ancient alleys in the town, which witness the town’s long history. Among them Nanzheng Street has a high profile, where famous film and television works were shot, including Qia Tong Xue Shao Nian, and Wo Xin Can Lan.


 Art halls in the town


There are several art halls in the town, such as Qianyang Paper-Cut Hall and Ranxiang Hall. Qianyang Paper-Cut Hall is operated by famous folk artist Qiu Hongqi and has attracted countless tourists at home and abroad.


 Temples near the town


There are some ancient temples near the town, like Sanbaojiang Temple, Longwangbao Temple and Panlong Temple. Tourist are allowed to visit those temples and chat with masters in temples, which is a good way to purify one’s soul.
