Second Nanxian crayfish festival kicks off

The event consisted of Nanxian crayfish marketing activity, promotion conference for the hometown of crayfish, the “Taste of Hunan” consumption season, and opening ceremony. Various activities were held, such as the Nanxian crayfish banquet in Changsha, collection of the IP image of the Nanxian rice-crayfish industry, the rice-crayfish cultural and tourism carnival, the Nanxian short video competition, a food market, an exhibition of high-quality ingredients and agricultural products, and the “Nanxian Family Banquet”, in a bid to boost consumption.
As the organizer of this event, Nanxian County treated Changsha citizens with 5,000 kilograms of fresh crayfish. During the event, foodies could enjoy free Nanxian crayfish at Changsha Wanda Plaza and Changsha Fisherman’s Wharf with the forwarded password. In the future, Nanxian crayfish will be sold at restaurants in major shopping malls.
In recent years, Nanxian County has made every effort to strengthen the rice-crayfish industry and created a complete rice-crayfish industry chain including space breeding, seedling breeding, prefabricated food, and medical beauty products. It has also achieved deep integration of the rice-crayfish industry with food processing, and medical and health industries, helping the preliminary formation of rice-crayfish breeding advantages in the Dongting Lake area.
Nanxian County implements the rice-crayfish co-culture mode in the fields of 620,000 mu (about 41333.33 hectares), with a comprehensive output value of 16 billion yuan, ranking among the top three in China in the industry scale and influence.
There are 3 national key leading enterprises in agricultural industrialization, 3 provincial-level leading enterprises, and over 1,000 professional cooperatives and family farms in Nanxian County, with 135,000 people engaged in the rice-crayfish industry.
Nanxian Daoxia rice (co-cultured with crayfish) and Nanxian crayfish have been awarded the China Geographical Indication Certification Trademark, with a regional public brand value of 35.56 billion yuan.
Nanxian County has won more than 20 honors, such as “the Hometown of Ecological Crayfish in China”, and “the National Agricultural Product Quality and Safety County”. It is the largest Daoxia rice production base and crayfish breeding center in the province.
