‘The Story of Hunan’ to be staged during upcoming May Day holiday

It summarizes the historical texture and spiritual style of Hunan based on the most representative and narrative historical fragments in the history of Hunan over thousands of years.
The performance integrates various artistic forms such as singing and dancing, acrobatics, and recitation, with the first-class stage, lighting, and sound effects, making audience immersed in it.
The project also spent 600 million yuan building the exclusive performance theater, with a construction area of about 30,000 square meters, located next to the Lijing Hotel in Ancient Town of Tongguan Kiln. The theater creates a 270-degree immersive viewing experience and can accommodate 1,600 people at a time.
“The Story of Hunan” premiered in 2023 and received praise from all walks of life. In 2024, it was staged again after more than four months of improvements in dance and special effects, performance forms, and multimedia effects, striving to make the audience immerse themselves in the ever-changing Hunan and appreciate the cultural character of Hunan with the more compact plots and exciting performance.
Yang Jihong, chief director of the drama, said, “It is an art work that presents the culture of Hunan for thousands of years. We created it with a great respect for Hunan culture, hoping to tell the story of Hunan well and promote Hunan culture.”
“The Story of Hunan” will continue from May 1 to 5.
