As a protection unit of this technique, the Tanxia Dongyuan Gong and Drum Factory in Leiyang City has a sales volume of about 4 million yuan this year, an increase of 10% compared to the same period last year, with overseas orders accounting for 20%. Its products are mainly exported to Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar, and are deeply loved by local consumers.
The traditional gong production technique of Tanxia Township has a long history, and each process requires precise heat control and skilled technique. Especially the final beat process determines the sound quality of the gongs. It is precisely with this exquisite technique that the gong has pure and loud sound quality, which makes it very suitable for being used in various celebrations and on ceremonial occasions.
In 2021, the traditional gong production technique of Tanxia Township was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage representative project. It needs more than ten processes such as material selection, batching, melting, billet making, and forging. Over the years, the factory has greatly enhanced production efficiency by improving various production equipment, with 5 patents obtained. Currently, it produces over 50,000 gongs of more than 100 types annually. This technique showcases the charm of traditional Chinese culture and injects new vitality into the local economic development.
