Hunan Museum enters national list

Recently, the National Cultural Heritage Administration and the Ministry of Finance announced a new batch of national-level key museums jointly built by the central and local governments. Hunan Museum was included on the list, which is the second time it has received this honor after being selected as one of the first national-level museums jointly built by the central and local governments in 2009.



Hunan Museum was opened in 1956, with a collection of nearly 540,000 pieces (sets). As the largest historical and artistic museum in Hunan Province, it receives approximately 3.5 million visitors every year. After more than half a century of development, Hunan Museum has achieved remarkable results in operation and management, cultural relic collection, academic research, displays and exhibitions, educational services, media communication, intelligent construction, cultural and creative industries, etc. It has now become one of the most influential museums in China and has entered the list of international advanced museums.
