Hunan’s ecological tourism shows promising trend

Hunan has established 9 provincial-level ecological tourism demonstration bases, 93 provincial-level or above forest wellness bases, and 33 four-star and five-star forest households based on various types of nature protected areas such as nature reserves, scenic areas, forest parks, geological parks, and grassland parks.
In the past three years, more than 60 series of activities for the Hunan Ecotourism Festival have been launched. The integration of ecological tourism and cultural tourism industries brings about a variety of new tourism products such as sightseeing tourism, Red tourism, folk tourism, mountain tourism, and adventure tourism. Fitness and wellness tourism represented by camping and mountain climbing is gradually growing.
This year, the Hunan Ecotourism Festival is themed around ice and snow tourism, wellness and summer tourism, and autumn tourism, with cultural tourism activities held throughout the year.
“As the high-speed rail network covers the whole province, the multi-center grid pattern of ecological tourism based on cities has become prominent. The number of tourists who come to Hunan for ecological tourism during the New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, and National Day holidays has reached a new high in recent years, and the ecological tourism consumption around cities in the province has seen an obvious growth trend,” said an official of the Forestry Department of Hunan Province.
