Wenjiashi marches toward global tourist destination

This year marks the 95th anniversary of the Autumn Harvest Uprising. On September 19, 1927, the Autumn Harvest Uprising troops on the border between Hunan and Jiangxi, led by Mao Zedong, joined forces in Wenjiashi Town, Liuyang City.
Wenjiashi Town is located in the southeast of Liuyang City, at the junction of four counties of Hunan and Jiangxi. As the “glorious starting point” of the Chinese revolution, Wenjiashi Town has a 4A scenic area of the Former Site of Rendezvous of Autumn Harvest Uprising, where Red scenic spots and Red cultural relics abound. In recent years, a number of cultural and tourism projects have been developed on this Red fertile soil, such as Hunan-Jiangxi Border Autumn Harvest Uprising Practice Base, Hunan-Jiangxi Border Rural Practice Research Base and Hunan-Jiangxi Border Flower Research Base.
In the past three years, Wenjiashi Town has received more than 12 million CPC members and visitors, as well as over 156,000 students from 489 batches of educational school trips.
At the same time, as a Red cultural and tourism town on the border of Hunan and Jiangxi, Wenjiashi Town has exerted the radiation effect and siphon effect to promote regional cooperation in Hunan and Jiangxi with Red cultural tourism. More than 30 events of various types were actively organized and hosted, attracting 1 million people.
At present, a group of tourists are drawn to the newly upgraded Red Rice Farm, brimming with Red culture and local characteristics. Last year, the farm earned over 800,000 yuan. The Red cultural tourism drives the vigorous development of the “Red economy”. In recent years, Wenjiashi County has developed over 10 boutique homestay inns and farmhouses, as well as more than 1,000 beds, with farmers’ income growing by over 10 million yuan. Red cultural and creative industry has increased the added value of local fireworks, oil cakes and agricultural products. Last year, the sales of cultural and creative products in Wenjiashi County exceeded 30 million yuan, driving the fireworks industry to increase revenue by more than 20 million yuan and the agricultural industry by over 5 million yuan.
“As of the end of August, Wenjiashi County had achieved a comprehensive cultural and tourism income of more than 600 million yuan this year.” Wenjiashi County will further inherit and carry forward the spirit of the Autumn Harvest Uprising. The brand of the cultural and tourism benchmark town will be more resounding, making the Red Wenjiashi strive to march toward the goal of developing into a global tourist destination.
