2023-04-24

During the activities, the She people, dressed in beautiful ethnic costumes, performed such traditional folk programs as the “She Dragon Dance” and the “Bamboo Dance”, demonstrating their hospitality and self-improvement spirit to tourists.
Under the guidance of the elders, they gathered in ancestral halls to offer sacrifices, read sacrificial texts, remember their ancestors, pray for national stability and good weather, and bless the prosperity of the She ancestors and their descendants, which fully displayed the vitality of folk culture.
There were various tourism products like the yellow peach wine and Yanling Black Tea, local special food, as well as handmade grass shoes and bamboo baskets at the specialty street of Yangling, which attracted a number of tourists. At noon, local villagers entertained guests with the “Ten Bowls of Meat”.
Yangqi Village of Shidu Town in Yanling County is the only village of the She ethnic group in Hunan Province, where the majority of villagers are surnamed Lan. Their ancestors migrated from Fujian to Hunan through Jiangxi during the 48th year in Emperor Kangxi’s reign during the Qing Dynasty, which has been more than 300 years since then.
In recent years, the She people have actively developed traditional ethnic culture and restored a series of traditional customs. On the third day of the third lunar month every year, local villagers celebrate the Double Third Festival through various activities.
