The small drama “A Lamp of Street Stall” created by Hunan Gordon Theatre was rated as the Special Recommended Drama.
The modern small drama “We Are One Family” created by Hunan Flower-drum Opera Theatre and the Yang opera “Wooden House on Cliff” created by the Yang Opera Protection and Inheritance Center in Hecheng District, Huaihua City were selected as Excellent Dramas.
75 masterpieces from more than 20 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government) across the country participated in the performance. They were staged in five units, including “small drama”, “sketches”, “mass arts”, and “campus drama”. The repertoire covered 10 different forms of performance, including Shandong Bangzi (Wooden Clapper Opera), Sichuan opera, Chu opera, Yu opera, dramas and sketches.
“A Lamp of Street Stall” is a modern psychological drama created by Hunan Gordon Theatre, which tells the story of a blind girl who is optimistic about life, inspiring the idle young man Liu Xiaomao. The plot is close to life, and reveals the living conditions of some contemporary young people with absurd techniques, which has strong practical significance.
“We Are One Family” was created by the young screenwriter Liu Zhe and directed by the national first-class actor Song Gu. The drama tells the story of Zhang Degao, a city management officer who discovers during routine law enforcement that the shopkeeper is his future mother-in-law. He then devises a clever plan to avoid a dispute and make his mother-in-law recognize him. This drama focuses on real-life issues and is close to the lives of the people. While promoting civilized law enforcement, it also showcases the deep love of parents for their daughters.
“Wooden House on Cliff” is set against the backdrop of a wooden house on the cliff of the Huaihua Grand Canyon, a national 4A-level scenic area. It tells the conflicts between Li Chunyan, owner of the wooden house, and her husband Man Wa when receiving Li Guying, an elderly tourist with dementia who lost her husband. An artistic image of an ordinary woman who is kind-hearted and adheres to professional ethics has been created to eulogize the new era and new civilized customs.
The National Excellent Small Drama and Sketch Performance, held every two years, aims to provide a performing platform for excellent national small dramas and sketches, and improve their creation and performance level.
