Wonderful cultural tourism activities
Hunan Cultural Center launched the Chinese style variety show, the Mid-Autumn Festival garden market and intangible cultural heritage experience activities. Changsha held serial theme activities of intangible cultural heritage publicity and exhibition.
Nanyue Mount Heng Scenic Area organized a series of activities such as the Chinese style music festival, the Zhurong Town lantern show, and the Mid-Autumn Festival moon worship.
Zhuzhou’s Emperor Yan’s Mausoleum Scenic Area launched the “I sing a song for my motherland Singing Contest” series of activities, and Fantawild Dreamland launched the “National Day Bear Fans Carnival” and other activities.
Xiangxi’s Qianzhou Ancient Town held a series of activities such as the Qianzhou spring parade, the Chinese style cartoon festival, and the Miao Drum (a national intangible cultural heritage item) experience activity, attracting a large number of tourists.
Zhangguying Village of Yueyang County held such folk activities as a ceremony to worship the moon, parading the garden in Hanfu (traditional Chinese attire), throwing an embroidered ball, knitting straw shoes and forging iron.
Changde’s Taohuayuan Tourism Management Zone launched special night tour activities, the intangible cultural heritage performance, the ancient dance and the folk song duet.
Yongzhou hosted the 2023 Jiangyong Nyushu International Music Tourism Week, drawing many domestic and foreign tourists.
Prominent effects of 2nd Hunan Tourism Development Conference
Taking the opportunity of hosting the second Hunan Tourism Development Conference, Chenzhou continued to boost holiday tourism economy. For example, Dongjiang Lake Scenic Area carried out the moonlit night theme activity, Mangshan Scenic Area launched folk custom experience activities, Gaoyi Ridge Scenic Area held the food festival, and DIY manual experience activities, and Wayaoping Historical and Cultural Block organized immersive performances and the riverside Wayao market.
Zhangjiajie, where the first Hunan Tourism Development Conference was held, built 72 Tujia Stilted Buildings, Hourong Street and other tourism consumption clusters, and launched seven science popularization study tour routes and eight major camping bases such as “Hot Wilderness”. These new formats and new products attracted many tourists.
With the successful holding of the second Huaihua Tourism Development Conference, the scenic areas and star hotels in Yuanling County were renovated and improved. Chenzhou Ancient Street, Longxing Temple, Hujiaxi, Fenghuang Mountain, Chenlongguan, and Jiemuxi hold great appeal for tourists.
Characteristic tourism favored by tourists
During the holiday, many people preferred self-drive travel because it offers more flexibility and freedom. Yongzhou released self-drive information through multiple platforms, and launched the detailed tourism strategy. Lingling Ancient Town, Yunbing Mountain, Jiuyi Mountain, Yangming Mountain, Shunhuang Mountain, Goulan Yao Village and other tour routes were popular among self-drive tourists.
Rural tour was more popular than ever. Hengyang’s Qingquan Nongfu, Huaguo Mountain, Xiangjiang South Hot Spring and other rural ecotourism scenic areas were bustling with tourists. Qingxi Village of Yiyang City carried out a series of special activities such as the immersive children’s reading event, and the large-scale rural live-action drama performance.
Red cultural tour continued to heat up. Shaoshan Tourist Area, Cai’e’s Former Residence, Xia Minghan’s Former Residence, the former site of the Student Union of the Southern Hunan, Hengyang Defense War Memorial Hall and other Red tourist attractions were crowded with tourists.
Food culture theme tour gained popularity. The “Exploring Hunan: A Culinary Adventure” tourism food exploring program became such a hit after broadcast that numerous tourists came to Hunan to savour the tasty food. Juwei Quji at Changsha Fisherman’s Wharf, the Fire God Palace at Pozi Street, Hengzhou Folk Culture Village of Hengyang and other popular restaurants attracted an endless stream of tourists.
Digital art brings new cultural tourism experiences
Hunan Museum’s “Wandering—Digital Art in Historical Spacetime” exhibition attempted to combine the historical context of Hunan and the national treasures of Hunan Museum, allowing visitors to have an in-depth dialogue with digital art.

Yueyang Tower Scenic Area launched the first AI digital person that visitors could get more historical and cultural knowledge about Yueyang Tower through the interaction with the AI digital person.
During the holiday, the first immersive large-scale landscape live-action drama “Dehang Fairyland” adopting the mode of “banquet plus performance plus drama” was staged in Dehang Grand Canyon.
Yongshun’s Furong Town launched the large-scale original intangible cultural heritage show “the Carnival of Bifzivkar”, so that visitors could learn about the one-thousand-year history of the Tujia people.
The “Metaverse” Science and Technology Experience Museum opened in Zhijiang County, Huaihua City. The Baima scenic area, with new AR and metaverse technologies enabling the real scene performance theater, brought tourists an immersive experience.
