Egrets make appearance at Sun Moon Lake National Wetland Park
2023-09-21

The egret is a national second-class protected animal and is known as the “bird for monitoring atmospheric and water quality conditions” due to its high requirements for the living environment.
As an “energy supply stop” for egrets during their southward migration, the park welcomes a large group of egrets around mid-September every year. They will stay for about half a month to a month before continuing their southward migration.
The forest coverage rate of the park is over 98%, and the water quality is consistently above Class II, making it a first-class water source protection area.
