Beautiful Simeng in Xupu County

Simeng is of typical Danxia landform, which is not high above sea level. It is covered with layers of “green vegetation” and the peaks are varied. Many people call Simeng “Small Guilin” and the “Small Langshan Mountain”. Besides, Simeng has its unique charm.
There is beautiful scenery and Danxia landform in Simeng of Xupu County, Huaihuai City. The 30 square kilometers of Danxia landform is distributed on both sides of the Xushui River, which looks like the Lijiang River in Guilin, with picturesque peaks and small hills like huge bonsai reflected in the clear water.
The scenery of Simeng is idyllic. More than 2,000 years ago, the patriotic poet Qu Yuan was exiled here. Inspired by the lush mountains and lucid waters, he immediately wrote poems reflecting what he saw along the way and his mood, such as “Tianwen” and “Shejiang”.
The Xushui River winds like a jade belt through the green mountains and clear water of Simeng. There are also natural landscapes such as the Wufo Mountain, Poyan Mountain, Taoyuan Cave and Tianzu Pit in Simeng, with a beautiful legend behind every tourist attraction. These landscapes complement with each other, highlighting the beauty of natural ecology.

Simeng has been successively rated as one of the “Eight Scenes of Xiaoxiang”, “Township along the Excellent Tourist Routes of Hunan Province” and “National Beautiful and Livable Ecological Demonstration Township”. In 2018, Simeng was approved as a national wetland park. In 2020, Simeng successfully passed the assessment of landscape quality of national 4A scenic area.
